So I’m expecting my first baby in early November. A frighteneing prospect nearer the time I’m sure. But for now, just very, very exciting news. The frist three months were full of morning sickness, lack of appetite & hormones that just wouldn’t stay calm for a moment. But all made worthwhile when we saw this little blurry image at St Mary’s hospital on April 16th.

A few phone calls and an evening trip to Liverpool later and we had four proud grandparents to be, the same number of would-be aunts & uncles and the dawning realisation that yes, this really was happening to us. So we’re now in to the second trimester…months 4-6 roughly speaking which should hold a blooming mother and a rapidly growing bump.
So it sounds like life for me is going to consist of…
- Shopping for maternity wear
- Staying constantly aware of the nearest lavatory and planning any route, be it walking, driving, unicycling etc around when & where the next toilet stop will be
- Rubbing in bio-oil
- Talking to a bump
- Thinking about names (far more controversial than you might think)
Can’t actually say it sounds bad at all. Our next scan is in a week or so and we hope to get another good gander. We’ve already decided we don’t want to know the gender in advance. But that will mean buying a lot of stuff in white & yellow. We like to think we’re giving ourselves a nice surprise on the big day…though the site of kidder emerging may be enough of a surprise for one day. In reality, it’s jut one less thing to worry about!!
